No person may operate an aircraft to which an Airworthiness Directive applies, except in accordance with the
requirements of that Airworthiness Directive unless otherwise agreed with the Authority of the State of Registry.

ATA 55 Stabilizers – Vertical Fin Spar - Inspection
Manufacturer(s): Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM S.r.l.
Applicability: Model P92-JS; from serial number (s/n) 013 up to s/n 068 inclusive.
Reason: Fatigue stress has been determined as originator of cracks on the rear spar of the
vertical fin and subsequently on the front spar. Those cracks were found during a
major maintenance inspection (1 200 hours Time in Service (TIS)).
Such a problem, if not detected in time, could lead to rupture of the vertical fin
attachments and cause catastrophic loss of airplane control.
This emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) requires an initial inspection and until
further notice repetitive inspections of the vertical stabilizer rear spar per the
applicable TECNAM Service Bulletin (SB) 006-CS.
Effective Date: 15 February 2008
Compliance: Required as indicated:
1.Within the next 25 Flight Hours (FH) or within 30 days after the effective date of
this AD, whichever occurs first, perform the following actions on the vertical fin
rear spar in accordance with Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM S.r.l. SB 006-
CS.

Using a magnifying glass (10x) and with a spot light, check the rear spar for
loose or missing rivets and for cracks or deformations.
1.1.If any crack or any other finding is found, ground the airplane and
contact immediately the Type Certificate Holder.
1.2. If no damage is found, within 5 days after accomplishment of the
inspections, fill the form attached to the referenced SB and send it
back to Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM S.r.l.
2. Repeat thereafter,inspections required by paragraph 1. of this AD at intervals
not to exceed 100 FH.

The use of later approved revisions of this document is acceptable for compliance
with the requirements of this AD.
Remarks : 1. If requested and appropriately substantiated, EASA can accept Alternative
Methods of Compliance for this AD.
2. The safety assessment has requested not to implement the full consultation
process and an immediate publication and notification.

TECNAM P92 - Alerta aos proprietários

Foram detectadas gretas produzidas por fadiga “en el larguero posterior del estabilizador vertical y posteriormente en el larguero anterior”. Estas gretas foram detectadas numa revisão estrutural feita às 1.200 horas de voo. Estas gretas se não se detectam a tempo, podem levar à ruptura dos elementos de “sujeccion” do estabilizador vertical.
A fábrica já editou um Boletim de Serviço que explica como fazer a inspecção correspondente para detectar as gretas se as houver – é a nota SB 006-CS, disponível na Internet.

Esta inspecção deve ser repetida a cada 100 horas de voo.

Há que ter em conta que esta anomalia afecta a versão certificada VLA do P92, cuja estrutura é igual à versão ULM, daí que todos devem fazer a inspecção aconselhada, pois esta é uma matéria muito séria.
